2007 G2E Post-Show Report: Simple solutions
A year ago at G2E, SecureKlip’s Cathy Wood spent the show telling anyone and everyone who would listen about a small plastic device designed to make life easier for anyone who carries a purse. Wood’s SecureKlip is a molded plastic device that can be attached to almost any flat surface to offer a secure place to hang a purse or a laptop case. A patent-pending retention tip acts as a theft deterrent.
With that concern taken care of, customers then can devote their attention to playing the
slot machines or enjoying their meal with peace of mind.
“It was one of those needs was just so obvious that it was totally overlooked. It’s so obvious
that’s it’s just been almost below the radar,” Wood said.
It paid off, said Wood, whose company was back at the show this year. SecureKlip has installed orders in dozens of restaurant and casino operations since then, Wood said, while also noting
the company also has placed thousands of the devices overseas through a European distributor.
“We had as much excitement and interest from gaming companies as we did from furniture
manufacturers and restaurants,” she said. “It’s an inexpensive amenity for them to install, and the return on customer appreciation is immediate.”
The main reasons to install the devices are patron convenience, security and sanitation, she said.
Women also often spend a great deal of money on their purses, Wood said, “They don’t want to put them on the floor.”
SecureKlip can create the devices in colors and materials that blend with a casino or restaurant’s décor, Wood noted.
When it comes to the casino environment, they want to make sure this is going to look good with what they’ve got,” she said. “We can really make this look any way they want.”
